IC hosts Mid-Autumn Bobing celebration for students staying on campus

September 29, 2026

To inherit and promote fine traditional Chinese culture, enrich the holiday life of students staying on campus, and foster a warm and harmonious campus atmosphere, the International College(IC) held a Mid-Autumn mooncake dice game (Bobing) at the Student Community Service Station on the afternoon of September 25, bringing staying students together to celebrate reunion.

The atmosphere at the site was warm and lively. The college prepared a rich array of prizes, ranging from daily study and living supplies to mooncakes symbolizing reunion, each carrying the college's heartfelt blessings for the students. The student community security guards, who ordinarily on duty and quietly safeguard community safety were especially invited to join the activity together. As the dice clattered in the red porcelain bobing bowl, rounds of cheers and applause rose and fell. Students gathered around the tables, eyes following the tumbling dice, calling out "yixiu," "erju," "sijin," "sanhong," "duitang," and "zhuangyuan" amid laughter and joy. Those who did not win were not discouraged, clapping for their peers with smiles and looking forward to a comeback in the next round.

"This is my first time participating in a bobing event, and it feels so novel! Although I couldn't go home, celebrating the festival with my teachers and classmates feels just as lively as being with family," said a staying student holding a prize just won. Everyone expressed that the event was both fun and meaningful, as they not only experienced a traditional Mid-Autumn folk custom and received holiday gifts, but also felt the college's care and the warmth of campus life.

Mid-Autumn bobing is a traditional custom of Xiamen, Fujian Province, and one of China's national-level intangible cultural heritages, embodying a long cultural heritage and the beautiful meaning of reunion. By organizing this intangible cultural heritage activity and using the student community as a platform for cultural experience, the college both vividly carries forward fine traditional Chinese culture and warmly reflects its student-centered educational philosophy. During breaks in the activity, counselors chatted warmly with students, asking about their studies and daily lives, extending sincere holiday greetings, reminding them to stay safe on campus, and encouraging them to contact their teachers promptly if there are any problems.

This activity provided a sound platform for exchange and interaction among students staying on campus, allowing them to celebrate the festival together and deepen their friendship amid laughter and joy.
